Your School Nurse

BISD Nurses Make a Difference!!!! Your school nurse is a key leader in promoting and enhancing student safety, wellness, engagement, and learning. BISD nurses are also teachers who work to prevent and control illnesses so that students can learn to their greatest potential.

School Nursing is defined as: “A specialized practice of professional nursing which protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses, grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice, are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential.”

Boerne ISD school nurses are all Registered Nurses who bring professional expertise in health, wellness, prevention, chronic diseases, mental health, and growth and development to the educational team. Your BISD school nurses realize that good physical and mental health are essential for every child’s educational development and achievement. They influence attendance, which influences achievement and graduation rates. Get to know your school nurse!!!
