I am excited to see what school year 2024/25 has in store!

After teaching CPR + First Aid in and around the San Antonio area for many years (which I still do from time to time), I decided to use my degree in English from UTSA and get certified to teach high school English.  I spent six years teaching English for a charter school in San Antonio,  and was so fortunate to become a Greyhound last year (23/24). Although I have taught all levels of high school English, 10th grade is definitely my "sweet spot."  I love to see the growth that happens in the 10th grade year. Now that I have been in the district for a bit, I can honestly say that I love BHS - the culture, the community, and the "down home" feeling I get coming to work every day. :)

In my personal life, I enjoy live music, hanging out with family and friends, partaking of great food, having engaging conversation, and I like reading for pleasure.  I am blessed to have 5 humans that call me mom (ages 35-24) and 4 little ones (my grands) who call me Mia.

One of my favorite quotes, albeit long, is, ¨The Man in the Arena," by Theodore Roosevelt.  The gist is: the people who do not try and only criticize others who do - don't count; it’s the ¨trying¨ that matters.  That’s why the motto in my room is ¨Be Brave."

The best to get a hold of me are during my conference periods or before school from 8-8:30, except for Tuesdays when I have duty. Tutoring is available before school from 8-8:30 on M,W,Th, Friday.
